Sorika is an on-going art and publishing project established by Gareth McConnell in 2013. It was initiated as a way to collaborate with other artists, with no manifesto beyond the realising of projects of shared interest, and with no commitment to any specific medium or genre.
Gareth McConnell is an artist and photographer. His work has been featured in internationally recognised art, culture, and news publications including Aperture, Frieze and The New York Times. His work has been included in major survey exhibitions and is the subject of several monographs including Contemporary Photographers (Steidl), Close Your Eyes (SPBH Editions), and The Horses (Sorika).
Gareth has collaborated with brands such as Chloé, Kiko Kostadinov and Sports Banger and his work is held in the collections of the British Council, the Elton John Art Collection, Imperial Health Charity, the Royal College of Art, Selfridges, and UBS.
Gareth’s an artist we’ve loved for years for his singular aesthetic, and the vibrancy and emotive quality of his flower series. Gareth puts the same care into his prints (and interacting with us as buyers) as he does into his art. The saturation of the prints are rich and truly so beautiful. We just ordered additional work from a new series, and feel so honored to be collecting his work.
